Bird Watching

Spread your Wings

Bring a Newman’s or a Sasol Bird Guide, and spot some of the over 100 identified bird species hosted in and around this area.

Birds of prey thrive in this mountainous region. The Jackal Buzzard is often spotted perching on the boundary fence, high up behind the Elegant Lodge.

Frequently seen around the accommodation units, are the Sentinel Rock Thrush, Orange-breasted Rock-jumper, and the Red-winged Starling, which loves nesting under the thatch roofs.

Special appearances of the Secretary Bird are not uncommon - remember your binoculars and enjoy the view!
